Martin Conroy Maguire
Martin is an actor and photographer based in Galway. He began his career in children’s theatre before landing a lead role in The Morbegs, playing Finn across more than 100 episodes over three seasons.
On stage, he played the lead in The Bower Wall with Druid Theatre Company, co-directed by Garry Hynes. He was also a recipient of the Druid FUEL Artist Residency for his original work The Inside Turn.
Martin won Best Actor at Cork International Poetry Festival for Chasing Butterflies by Siobhan Donnellan. Other theatre credits include Closer by Patrick Marber (Anam Theatre), Almost A Fantasy (Mephisto Theatre Company), and various roles in The Honey Spike by Brian MacMahon. He also played the lead in an adaptation of Alexander Pushkin’s Onegin at the Galway Theatre Festival, and Dmitri Gurov in The Yalta Game by Brian Friel.
Alongside his acting work, Martin is an accomplished lens-based artist. He has created image content for major international film, television and theatre productions.
His latest work, Persona (Arts Council Project Award 2021), an interactive visual arts exhibition created with That’s Life art makers with ID, was presented at Black Box Theatre in November 2022. Martin is a member of Visual Artists Ireland, the National Union of Journalists, and Nikon Professional Services.
