Rob Arkins 


Robert Arkins is an Irish Actor, Musician and Composer best known for his breakout role as the ambitious aspiring music manager Jimmy Rabbitte in the 1991 film The Commitments. He began his professional music career at the age of 15 as the frontman of the band Housebroken, which won the Sunday World Bandslam competition in 1988.

Following the success of The Commitments, directed by Alan Parker, Rob briefly pursued acting in Hollywood but ultimately prioritised his music career over further film roles.

He has composed music for television commercials and artistic projects, and signed with MCA Records in the 1990s, collaborating with producers like Dave Allen and Guy Chambers. His other credits include composing music for then short film The Silent City (2006) and short film The Space in Between (2017).

In 1998, Rob made a brief return to screen in the Irish short film What Are You Looking At?, directed by Tony Keily, where he played the role of the Bleeding Yuppie.
